with a handful of bags, edward had invited himself over to his best friend’s residence for a movie night. the movie was bland so far and edward showed no emotion as the opening credits began to appear on the screen in small snippets, revealing what the movie would be about and who would be starring in it. his hand was shovelling a good portion of popcorn into his mouth when he looked over to anna halfway through the movie, his eyebrow raised and he craned his neck to see the expression on her face. ”are you…crying?” [/i] he asked with a skeptical tone, reaching up to brush his fingers across her cheek, catching the moisture and sitting up just a little straighter to see his best friend in distress. the movie was a little hardened, a sad tale about lost love but he had not expected this kind of reaction out of his best friend and felt a little guilty about his movie selection. his hand moved out of the popcorn bowl and he sat up fully, his head having been on her lap as the movie progressed and his eyelids had grown heavier due to the intense boredom that had overcome him. he ran a hand through his hair, sighing softly while stretching his arm, shooting her a glance out of the corner of his eye, ”any guy ever pull that yawn and over the shoulder move with you..?”[/i] he asked, grinning with a smile that reached his ears while actually performing the move and bringing anna’s body closer to his. he turned his head, catching another tear with his fingertips and chuckled nervously, never having been comfortable to see a girl cry. even for a trivial reason as a movie. ”you want to turn it off? do something else?”[/i] he asked while his fingers involuntarily began to draw lazy designs on her arm while his lips found the side of her head as the movie played on in the background and edward had no intention of paying much attention to it now. It was not news that Anna was an emotional woman. Tears were commonplace in her life, as were impassioned arguments and flares of anger. It never took too much to get her emotions going, so something like a sad movie could certainly cause the female to tear up, even to the point of tear stains rolling down her cheeks. There was a reason her mascara was waterproof.
With her eyes trained on the screen, her vision was blurring as she kept up with the events panning out. She was thankful that Edward couldn't see her face from his current positioning in her lap. Surely by now, as one of her best friends, he knew that she was just about as emotional and moody as they come. This did not, however, mean that she would be furthering that point by crying openly in front of him without abandon. Then he noticed - just a slight turn of his head, and he could tell. He hadn't even bothered to hide his noticing, which she found somewhat refreshing but also highly annoying. With just a short sentence posed as a question, she knew that there was no going around it now. If Edward didn't know about her moodiness and tendency of tears before, he does now.
"Just a little!" she exclaimed, highly annoyed that he'd managed to catch her crying over a silly movie. It wasn't even all that good of a movie. Immediately, the heaviness of her heart began to lift as they started interacting more - her thoughts were diverted from the movie, and the little things happening to the fictional characters were no longer at the forefront of her mind.
Wiping the tears off of her cheeks, she breathed in deeply before looking over at him now that he was sitting upright. "And then letting the hand drift down? It's happened, with and without the drifting..." she told him, laughing at the end. She didn't mind his arm being around her shoulders in the slightest, responding positively by leaning into him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Eh, we can if you want. I don't care either way," Anna admitted.

the chuckle that came from edward was a little unconventional as his best friend sniffled beside him, wiping at the tears on her face. the sign of amusement was written on his lips in the form of a small smile but it was nothing menacing, or cruel, but basking in the small sign of weakness that the otherwise strong anna was showing. his thumb caught a few sliding tears and he gave her a reassuring smile before wiping his now moist thumb over the material of his jeans. he felt a gut feeling of guilt bubbling into the core of his stomach causing him to sigh softly and reach for the remote that was on the table. he pressed down on a button and the screen instantly froze on a strange, fuzzy scenario happening between the two characters. they appeared to be going in for a kiss but edward’s action had stopped them, stalling the time just a little longer and he slowly turned his head to her, ”oh anna banana, don’t cry..” he mumbled while pressing his lips to her forehead, letting a breeze of warm air rush over the skin of her forehead before pulling back. his arm stretched over his head as he spoke, giving a shake of his head, ”oh..hm..” [/i], feeling both the idea of that to be a little inconsiderate but then also hating the idea of someone doing it to his best friend at the same time, ”little unexpected of someone to do. i would do it without the drifting…”[/i] as the thought of touching anna without her permission in such an intrusive way seemed unorthodox to edward and something that he would never do. resting his arm over the length of her shoulder, his fingers danced across the skin of her arm, not making a move to gesture for more but relaxing and comforting her. he looked to the screen and furrowed his brows at the characters on the screen. the idea to continue the movie was a bittersweet one and with a press of a button, the screen went black and he turned his attention to his best friend, ”wasn’t that good of a movie anyway. let’s bake or sleep or something…”[/i], letting out a small yawn, situated himself so his head could lay on her shoulders and his eyes could shut for a just a moment.[/div][/center] tag: courtney w/ ana <3 words: 394 outfit: clickynotes: uggh love them so much.

When characters on whatever television show or movie she was watching began to shed a tear or two, outwardly showing their inner turmoil, Anna couldn’t help but let a few tears slip. Normally, it was only brief, momentary, but Edward had just happened to catch her in just that one particular moment. Most guys simply looked away - or, most of the guys that she had known and been in this situation with. His noticing and commenting on it only seemed to make it worse, make it all flare up again. Normally, the tears were limited to a scarce few, but when the light was shown it caused a few more to slip out. There wasn’t a negative mood associated, especially now that the movie was paused, putting a halt to both the actions on screen as well as the dramatic music that holds the viewer’s emotions hostage.
”Edward I am trying not to!” she exclaimed, laughing softly and sniffling a little, unconsciously leaning into the kiss he placed on her forehead. Shrugging at his comment, she wiped the few remaining tears away. ”I was like 14, so, it’s a bit different,” in her head, at least. Back then, she didn’t know what she was doing, and she doubted the guys she was hanging around had any idea as to what to do. They just acted. Safe to say, if anyone tried to pull that now, she’d be out from under their arm in seconds. ”I would hope you wouldn’t dare, Edward. You’re far too good for that.”
”You’re right, it wasn’t all that good,” she agreed. ”Let’s just stay here,” Anna told him, her voice soft as she let her head rest on top of his gently. ”Don’t fall asleep on me now, Eddie boy.” Though she wouldn’t be surprised if he drifted off, if only for a moment. The exhaustion was creeping in on her as well, but she wasn’t about to fall asleep. ”Unless you just wanna nap?”
