the third announcement [style=padding: 5px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 10px; letter-spacing: 1px; border-left: dotted 2px #6e597d; background-color: #fff; width: 388px;]happy six months, working on white lies!
that's right, we've been going for a solid six months, and I couldn't be more proud. thank you all for joining, sticking around, and participating.
uhhh ok. MOVING ON. we are not accepting any more senior characters! the end of the school year is coming up, so please, if you are wanting to make a senior, considering the timing, please just make them a junior.
so, this part is directed mostly to all of the senior characters out there. I'm not sure what you all have in mind, but graduation is two months away. what I'm looking for is what you all want to happen to your senior characters post-graduation. there is the obvious option: deleting them because they went off to school. they could instead become a local, work in the town of hadley. considering this is a prestigious boarding school site in a smaller town, there are no big universities at the moment, and it also leads one to assume that the alum will be going off to school. however, if there is a large enough interest, I might be willing to re-categorize the site and add in a university... it depends on what all of you are willing to do, and from there, we'll sort everything out. promise. there is also the option of docking us back a couple months IC so everyone has more time to play out whatever they want to with their senior characters.
just so all of you know - we will not be playing out the summer months on the site, instead skipping ahead, seeing as the site is a boarding school and a vast majority of the characters will be going home to their families over the vacation months. after school is let out, we will have a move out week where we'll work on re-categorizing everyone and doing some clean up, then we'll slide right into move in time, which will actually take up an additional week or two.
an activity check will be coming soon, along with an event or two. remember, prom is coming up for the juniors and seniors, so keep that in mind with any plotting, posting, in character stuff!
character graduation will be june 2nd. the school semester ends for seniors on may 22nd, and on june 6th for the rest of the school.
if you have any questions, concerns, comments, please just shoot me a pm.
that's it! love you all, courtney.
NOW, please post what you would like as far as your senior characters go. thank you!

Seeing as I've been playing most of my characters since like... November, personally I'm fine with the idea of the seniors just disappearing from the site after graduation. But I don't know how other people feel, especially the people who've only just registered.
Maybe there could be an option for newer senior characters to be aged down a year, if people want?

As much as I enjoy playing out my current seniors, I'm totally fine with letting them go & creating space for new characters~ It's the circle of life y'know [/size]

I think you should make a university. Then, we wouldn't have to go through this process every time seniors come to the age of graduation. Plus, it'd be much more fun to continue role playing our characters as adults. It would also open up much more oppurtunity for adults, or locals, seeing as they'd have a university to go to. The amount of locals would probably go up, too. ^_^

personally, i'm not crazy about the idea of there being a university on WOWL. hadley has a population of 5000 - it just doesn't seem realistic to me. i know that rping doesn't have to be realistic, but idk if I could suspend disbelief that far. also, like... as it's a private boarding school, idk if any of the characters would realistically be going to a small, non-renowned college rather than one of the top ranking unis further away.
buuuut it could be that they were taking a year out? idk how it is in the US but a lot of people here take a year out between school & uni to work and save money, to do internships, travel, etc. a lot of people also do an art foundation course which you'd prob just do at whatever art college is nearest you, regardless of ranking. most people would live with their parents during this, but maybe bc the characters have been at boarding school (which is super sheltered, controlled & structured environment) they want a chance at independence? idk maybe the seniors who're sticking around pool their money and rent a house together while they do whatever they're doing for a year.

I think you should add a collage, it would make things way more fun and mature. Plus I don't know if all of us actually want to get rid of our characters sense some of us are attached to them. Lol

ok! so here our my views on this whole senior deal. i do think in the long end just to be fair MAYBE have some kind of poll voting of what can or will happen...majority rule thing? or just decide between the admins because i mean...admin rule thing too and i'll go with whatever. lmfao.
i'm slightly attached to playing theo but this is probably only because i have not been on a site in a very long time to where i was able to get over 100 posts with them. actually i don't think i have been since i was like thirteen years old. so not being able to play him anymore might be saddened but it's only probably because i like to see his post count go up and i feel i'm getting a decent grip on him regarding his persona anyways. IT also if i'm being honest would feel weird to have someone else come along and start playing andrew garfield on the site. kind of a hoarding thing but that's only because of how long i've had him now. but i could totally see myself just changing around his name and making him a local because if i'm being honest...theodore morin would not stay in hadley. BUT as Cat says it is the circle of life and this site is a small town adding a university would not make much sense. also velvet made a good point in how the kids that go to this school would be going to university, ivy leagues and such. and i'm sure many of the students will be eventually going places considering they are from wealthy families.
my suggestion which probably actually won't work out is the possibility of having an around the board category on the site. this could be for characters that are going off different places and people that still want to play their character. EXCEPT the problem with this is it would be hard to find people to rp with so in the long end it probably wouldn't work. I ALSO find a issue with the fact that what about the people that have plots with younger students? if seniors leave and can't interact with hadley students anymore and our completely gotten rid of...it could potentially ruin a relationship plot. for instance just an example branch and mallory. a junior with a senior. though i know velvet says theirs a potential branch could stay as a local but what about characters to where it won't make sense if they stayed behind? I MEAN yeah you could totally say their significant other is gone and never roleplay with them again and then when your kids a senior it's buh-bye....but i think that'd get old pretty fast. AND...we have a lot of seniors and that'd be a lot of characters gone off the site. The only other thing I can think of is keeping these characters and having them come around for vacation every so often...but really? how active can you be with them? that's like character hoarding.
wow...i'm probably thinking way too much >.> BUT...yeah.

you could consider just keeping character ages static and not aging anybody up. i mean, it's not like the site really runs on a timeline, lbr.

and just a suggestion off of velvets suggestion, if someone does want to age up their character or get rid of their character it could be their choice in the long end? if we did a static no aging up. AND LETSBEHONEST here too...like...it's not real life to the extent every site dies eventually to where characters kinda die with it and it won't matter where they left off. if that makes any sense

I see where you're coming from on the realism aspect of it all, factoring the population and such. Maybe you could add a university, and it could be a nearby town? The university aspect would play a much smaller role that way, probably, and I think it should, but that way we could all still role play. We'd be able to have our characters occupied, and doing something, while we'd also have the option of role playing in Hadley.
That, or you could make the locals aspect of the town more intimate. I mean, you have boards, and things the locals can do, but as far as having things like jobs, and careers set up, you don't have much. I think you should make that a little more elaborate anyways. But then I would think that'd take away from the boarding school aspect of the role play, which I absolutely don't want to do. Still, I think the solution is upping the local activities, or creating a university.

I haven't had Alex that long and haven't gotten to do that much with him so if I could maybe super please hang onto him and take him through senior year again if there's no uni, that'd be super great. Especially since he's probably gonna get a new love interest with the clear-out since Bradley's inactive. ): If he was going to uni, he'd probably move out of town to study fashion design as well but he could be a local and just visit after this. Ta, guys! x

It would be great if the ages were static, making a uni doesn't seem very realistic, since most of the people on here come from wealthy family's and will be going to Ivy League university's. I just joined and I haven't really gotten to play with Wren and Carmen as much as I've wanted to, so I personally think that keeping the character ages static would be the best thing to do.
