It was cold, most of the roads were closed as well as the majority of establishments and rather than laying in her bed whining about how terribly bored she was Lola thought that it would have been a good idea to find her own fun. There were some limitations impressed on the situation. For one, venturing outside seemed an awfully idiotic thing to do. But those stipulations weren’t anything that she couldn’t work around. There was a dorm full of peers that she had at her disposal and a lounge that was just calling her name. Even if what she had in mind wasn’t approved of by the others that might have been hanging around, it wasn’t like they could really do anything to stop her. The staff was all gone nuzzled up in their own homes and the RA wasn’t anyone whose authority she respected or punishment she feared.
A bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand, a deck of playing cards in the other and a pep in her step, Lola made her way into the student lounge expecting it to be busy. Instead it was vacant and dark. Letting out a little huff of annoyance she moved over to the stereo and fiddled with the dials until some decent music came on. Brantley Gilbert’s Kick It in the Sticks was just starting up and, freshly giddy, Lola bounced on the balls of her feet pleased with the song and turned it up louder than it should have been, most likely disrupting the majority of people whose dorms were closer to the lounge than others. Lola didn’t care; she was hoping someone would come along to complain.
Setting the cards on the table she popped open the bottle and took a healthy swig of it. Hot chocolate or tea warmed the body too but to hell with it. Lola wanted to have a good time and she liked being drunk so the drink was much more befitting. Letting her hips swing from side to side as the country song blared she was so easily lost in the music that when someone did come up just continued with the tantalizing swaying. Lola couldn’t really sing, it wasn’t her forte but heck everyone got that urge sometimes and just had to belt it out. For Lola this was one of those times. At least her voice didn’t make you want to cover your ears and run away screaming. As she turned around she was face to face with another person and she didn’t hesitate to make herself comfortable slipping her arms around their neck, careful not to spill any of the Jack Daniels in the process. ”Well hello, darlin’.”

Emma was sitting on her bed while her slave ‘friend’ (Emily) is sitting at Emma’s desk while (Emily) is doing Emma’s homework for the week. Emma and Emily are also having conversation about their latest crushes and what not. But it soon came upon how Emma’s father has been spending more and more time away from the home for some reason and is using the he is working out of the house, but why would he need to go out of the house to do his work since he use to just remain in the house to do the work, just like he planning on doing in a few days times since she is going to be going out for the night, while her mother is going away somewhere that Emma doesn’t really care about since it isn’t like Emma’s mother is taking Emma on the trip. After a few hours, Emma asked Emily to leave to what she did, but Emma couldn’t help but to have feelings for a nerd even though she is a part of the popular crowd.
Emma opens up her night stand draw and pulls out a bottle of Vodka. “What to do since all of my work is done but everyone have retreated back to their homes because of this stupid snow.” Emma said as she let out a sigh in frustration. Emma quickly pulls on her warmest clothes, takes the bottle of Vodka and slowly make her way to the lounge planning on having some quiet drinks alone as she ponders about what to do about her growing feelings for a nerd, and what will happen when her ‘friends’ finds out. As she approaches the lounge she hears Brantley Gilbert’s Kick It in the Sticks being turned up in the volume. “Now who could still be hear since even Emily has gone back to her home for the night?” Emma thought as she stands in the door way only to see one of her friends standing by the stereo.
Emma stays where she is as she watches her friend set up the cards on the table before taking a healthy swig of her Jack Daniels. “She is so like my father it is unreal. If I didn’t know better, I would of thought that Lola is really my father’s daughter, and then that means that she is my half-sister.” Emma thought. When Lola started to dance, Emma walks over to where Lola had set up the cards, places her bottle of Vodka by the cards and then approach Lola from behind her and started to dance not really caring if anyone saw he dancing flirtatiously behind a female since everyone in the school knows that Emma is out in the open about her being a lesbian, so what is wrong with Emma wanting to be with her friend, but then again no one knows that her and Lola have fooled around with each other while Lola has been drunk, but even when Lola is sober they have flirted with each other but haven’t actually slept with each other while Lola is sober. Soon enough, Lola turns around and slips her arms around Emma’s neck not spilling a single drop of the Jack Daniels. “Hey there, Lola. So why aren’t you at your home like everyone else?” Emma asks glad about having some company.

For the better part of her life Lola had always been the self-indulgent type. Her popularity, admittedly, was attributed to her good looks, athletic prowess, and promiscuity. She never stopped to think if the people around her actually liked her for who she was, especially since if self-reflection was something that Lola went about she could easily rattle off a laundry list of negative traits that she possessed. At she was a good time, which was more than she could say for the majority of people around this town. Hadley just wasn’t home to her and it never would be. She missed the little things like going fishing with her daddy on that lake on their property, taking the four-wheeler into the woods for hours, going trail riding on her Paint, Miko, hanging around a bonfire telling stories and roasting marshmallows- those things weren’t really suited for Hadley. These people were all about their fancy cars and fashion forward attire and Lola was down home country.
Smiling at Emma as she danced with the other girl, Lola admired her features, appreciating. She liked her. They had always been flirtatious and enjoyed one another’s company. If Lola was a different person she might have felt guilty about sleeping with Emma’s dad but truth be told, it wasn’t anything that Lola really thought Emma needed to know. Lola didn’t see much purpose in it. On the other hand, if Emma were to do something to piss Lola off then that notion would change. She wasn’t above hitting people where it hurt if she felt like she’d been wronged in some way. It was a classic eye for an eye mentality; only Lola usually didn’t stop just there. What kind of psychological effects might that have on a person? To find out that your dad was cheating on your mom with one of your friends? Would there be a tinge of guilt knowing that you really did play a part in it since if not for the friendship your dad might not have ever even met the friend? Lola let her mind wander there for a moment before Emma’s voice snapped her back.
”I’d love to go home, but that’s all the way down South.” Her parents didn’t have a place in Michigan and they had never saw any reason for it. It might have been nice to have them around to see her games every now and again but they were too busy. Her dad spent most of his time in Tennessee working with his music clients while her mom held down the homestead in Georgia taking care of the management of the horse ranch that they owned. Thoroughbreds didn’t groom and train themselves. Breeding the finest race horses in the South wasn’t the easiest thing to do, it was time consuming and busy work so her mother, even the number of ranch hands they had, didn’t like to leave just to see a soccer game or come to a swim meet. If her team made it to the big events then they’d come to support Lola but otherwise, she was on her own. She liked it that way though. ”Besides, I wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity to be around you.” Her fingers combed lightly through Emma’s hair, affectionately.

Emma does like Lola more than she should since she knows that Lola doesn’t really see Emma as a lover, but the one person who Emma does like the most and would be happy to become a couple with is her best friend who only ever fools around with each other when Lola is drunk for some reason. But Lola is the opposite of her as she had good looks to go with her popularity, she has athletic prowess and unlike Emma, Lola has confidence in her abilities to be satisfied with almost anyone. But even though Lola has everything that Emma wants to have in her life, she will remain friends with Lola no matter what she does since it isn’t like Lola would sleep with her father or something or someone she likes. But she did have to wonder on if Lola and Emma’s friends actually like Lola for who she is or if they just pretends to like her so that they can feed of Lola and Emma’s popularity. Emma does have to admit that she does feel sorry about Lola for some things since most of the other students can simply go home to see their families whenever they feel like but Lola needs to plan it ahead of time.
A bright smile appears on Emma’s lips when Lola starts to dance with her, but she soon blushes when she notices her friend admiring Emma’s features. The two friends have always been flirtatious with each other since they found out that each of them likes the same gender to some degree, what started to make Emma want Lola even more but they never properly slept with each other since they only ever shared the same bed with each other, but one night after a local party the two of them stumbled back to the dorms fairly drunk and they finally ended up sleeping together, so ever since Emma has looked forward to when the two friends can sleep with each other. But Emma can’t help but to think that Lola is hiding something from her since Emma sometimes can’t even find Lola when she really wants to, so Emma can’t help but to think that Lola may be fooling around with someone that she shouldn’t be like a teacher or an adult that is married or something.
“Sorry I totally forgot that your parents don’t live locally.” Emma freaks out slightly. Emma knows that Lola’s dad spends most of his time down in Tennessee working with clients in the music industry while her mum works in Georgia taking care of the horse ranch that the family owns down there. Emma does feel sorry for her friend since her parents are too busy with work to see Lola play in a soccer game or compete in a swim meet, but they would make the effort to see their daughter in all of the major competitions that Lola is in. “And I wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity to be with you in one of our dorms.” Emma said playfully, she then lens into her friend in hopes of placing a passionate kiss on Lola’s lips.

A lot of the times even when Lola and her parents were in the same room they still weren’t really there. It came with a busy lifestyle and she was both used to it and accepted it. Complaining about things that were out of your control was a waste of breath and Lola had always been able to find more useful things to do with herself than sulking. Was it some daddy issue that she had or teenage rebellion that stirred on her promiscuity? No, it was her love of sex in general that had Lola sleeping around as much as she did. She was always safe though and took all those proper measures to staying healthy so it wasn’t like she would be hurting anyone, not even herself. That detached nature of hers came in handy in these situations.
”Its alright, Darlin’.” She drawled letting out a small chuckle. If Lola wasn’t worried about it then Emma didn’t need to be freaking out. It was understandable on instinct though. If you thought that you might have offended your friend or stirred up a negative emotion then you immediately jumped to apologies. At least that was what the majority of people did. Lola on the other hand never seemed to fret over other people’s emotions. She didn’t walk on eggshells for anyone but at least she didn’t expect it back. She was one of those girls that could hit you with a venomous strike but take it back in kind so there was some balance there, some saving grace in the slew of negative aspects of her outrageous personality. Lola was comfortable with the person that she was, which was saying a lot considering most teenage girls- teenagers in general- struggled to find themselves.
That moment that Emma was trying to capitalize on hadn’t gone unnoticed by Lola. Just as the girl was leaning in to kiss her Lola pulled back, eyes lighting up as though she’d just remembered something wonderful. That wasn’t necessarily the case considering that Lola had never forgotten why she had come to the lounge in the first place but Emma did have to know that. She was being a tease and wasn’t sorry about it in the least- in fact it would have appeared as though Lola didn’t even know she was being one, oblivious to Emma’s attempted advancement. ”Now that you’re here…” Lola detangled herself from Emma heading over to the table that she had tossed the deck of cards onto. Picking up the packet she gave Emma a devilish grin. ”Want to play some strip poker?” There wasn’t any reason that they couldn’t have a little fun before fooling around. Lola liked foreplay.

Emma lets out a sigh of relief when he friend told her that it was alright along with a small chuckle. The only reason Emma is even freaking out is because of even though they are best friends, she forgot some she should know about. “That is good to hear.” Emma said as a dark shade of red crept up onto her cheeks from her feeling embarrass from bringing up a subject that is harsh for her friend. “You must hate me for not remembering that you live down South unlike the other lucky people here who live in Hadley. Why don’t you come round my family’s home some time for a family meal since it would be nice to have a family meal from time to time even if it is not with your own family.” Emma said as she smiles at her friend hoping that she would accept the invitation and that her parents will not mind it if Emma brings Lola round from time to time so that Lola will be able to enjoy a family meal. Emma is glad that she has at least one true friend in Lola since she knows what Lola can be like when it comes to someone who she doesn’t like since she has a venomous strike that will hit you in the place that will hurt you the most no matter who it is or what will hurt the person the most. But that can be the same with most teenage girls… or teenagers in general since if they get hurt then they will hurt the person back in kind in the way the least expect it.
Emma couldn’t help but to pout slightly when Lola leaned away from Emma when she had leaned in to kiss her best friend. She then bites her lower lip wondering if it is because Lola is not drunk enough or if Lola isn’t in the mood for it tonight. “Now that I am here…?” Emma asks as she raises an eye brow wondering exactly what her friend was planning by walking over to the table that Emma had put down her Vodka on. Emma looks on with a confused look when her friend gives her a devilish grin that she has seen so many times. “You know we can’t play that in the lounge since we could get expelled for doing it…” Emma approaches her friend. “…so why don’t we take this game back to one of our dorm rooms then?”[/purple] Emma said as she winks flirtingly at her friend.

It really wasn’t anything that had ever bothered Lola. Family was important of course but she had never believed that it was something that needed to be around all the time or hold your hand every second of the way. She had an aunt that had been that way with her children, constantly in their business, over protective and worrisome and babying them all through their childhood. It had turned them into a bunch of neurotics whom Lola could barely stand to be around for more than five minutes at a time. She was glad her parents had always given her space growing up and into those blossoming teenage years. It gave her the opportunity to get into heaps of trouble but also meant that Lola had needed to learn the skills to get herself out of the messes that she made. That was much better than cowering at every curveball that life threw at you like her cousins. She had laughed at their ridiculousness plenty of times. The thought of a family dinner over at the Frost home brought a smile to her lips. ”I like the sound of that.” She replied though it wasn’t for reasons that one might suspect. Lola could care less about the sense of family togetherness that was supposed to come from a gesture like that. Instead her mind was on how amusing it would be to see James squirm having his lover in the same place as his wife and daughter and pushing him to the edge with quips.
The suspense had probably been brutal for Emma, especially since she had seemed to be upset about not snagging that kiss. Lola liked playing games though. It was an endless source of entertainment and she liked to think that she was pretty darn good at them. Even when they failed her, working her way around a loss could be a good time too and that was what Lola was all about, a good time. That sort of lofty behavior might not have been everyone’s favorite thing about her but at least around Lola you were never bored and if you were it was because you were too stubborn to allow yourself to have fun. Taking another slug off her bottle of whiskey Lola looked over at Emma giving her an appropriately dramatic pout. ”Where is your sense of daring?” She didn’t have much desire to be expelled herself but the RA was a push over and she was sure it wasn’t anything that a bit of bribery couldn’t cure, if they were in fact caught. Sighing heavily Lola shrugged. ”If you insist though.”
